Rhine River filled with history and romance of historic tale. The water comes from the Swiss Alps and flows down to its mouth in the Dutch seaside (North Sea) near Rotterdam. That’s after a long journey in the border states of Leichtenstein, Austria, the cities in Germany (from Mainz, Bingen, Bonn, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Duisburg), French, and Dutch. Because of this river through the many countries that carried the names vary. There are at least 4 names Rhein (Germany), Rhine (France), Rijn (Netherlands), and Rhenus (a provision in the European ancestry). But the most popular title is the French version: the Rhine. His name itself comes from the word ‘renos’ which roughly means ‘flowing away’ and indeed the river that flows along approximately 820 miles (1320 km). Read the rest of this entry »
